Thomas J. White, artistic director, was appointed Cantor of The Lutheran Church of the Ascension in August 2019. He has worked at Lutheran churches since 1991 and served as artistic director for Patrons and Friends of the Arts at Ebenezer in Columbia, SC, and founded The Harstad Fine Arts Series in Lexington, KY. He holds degrees from the

He holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. As a composer, his diverse commissions have been performed at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival USA, South Carolina; The Phil Kramer Recital Series, Texas; and many churches and seminaries throughout the US. As a conductor, Tom had led many orchestral and choral performances and is also a seasoned pit orchestra conductor.
