margo jones named president of bach ascending

We are pleased to announce that Margo Jones has been named as president of Bach Ascending by the board of directors. Margo succeeds Mark Berry, who passed away in February after a long illness.

Biography

As the operations team leader for the Bach Ascending 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, Margo has been responsible for establishing protocols, conducting pre-concert planning and coordination, and providing onsite direction of volunteers for events held in the concert venues at 120 Bull Street and 6 East State Street. By utilizing a collaborative process developed to ensure that the Board’s goals for concert attendee satisfaction would be achieved or surpassed, survey responses received from those attending consistently reflect a high degree of satisfaction based on their experiences.

In 2016 Margo stepped away from full-time teaching at Savannah College of Art and Design to dedicate additional pro bono time and attention to the restoration of Lutheran Church of the Ascension’s historic 1879 building on Wright Square in Savannah. The 4-year, $3 million project received an Historic Savannah Foundation (HSF) award in 2019. Fundraising for restoration of Ascension’s 14 stained glass windows was undertaken separately, and work on the first window will be completed in 2023.

An active member of Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Margo serves on the Congregation Council, the 6 East State ministry team and the property team, and also leads Discover Ascension. She is a member of the College of Fellows and a professional member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and has held national and chapter offices within the organization. Margo is also a professional member of the International Coach Federation (ICF).
